WHAT IS SHAITSU?

SHIATSU is a holistic form of Japanese bodywork. It was developed in Japan more than 1400 yrs ago. Based on eastern principles, this form of massage works to re-balance the body’s natural flow of energy (or Qi)

Qi has the function of nourishing and rejuvenating each cell, tissue and organ. In your daily life, the accumulative effects of overwork, stress, poor lifestyle and emotional imbalances can take its toll and cause energy (Qi) to stagnate or become deficient. This cause blockages and deficiencies of Qi in the channels (meridians), resulting in discomfort and if untreated, disease.

During consultation and a TCM diagnosis (derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine) the root imbalances can be traced. This will allow me to custom-design a treatment regime that will best compliment your needs. General lifestyle advice will always follow your first treatment.

Shiatsu is different from traditional forms of massage.
The Client remains fully clothed during treatments (as is also traditional to Japan), and treatments are performed on a Shiatsu mat or futon. Shiatsu massage techniques may include the therapeutic use of acupressure points, stretching and holding techniques to re-balance the body’s Qi.

These techniques are brilliant for releasing deep-seated physical tension, balancing emotions and restoring vitality.

The aim of Shiatsu is to facilitate the client's ability to reconnect with a deep sense of their own well-being, at the level of mind and body. Shiatsu can assist clients to gain insight into their own state and patterns of tension. Thus the sessions can, as well as being healing experiences, become aids to self development. Try it!

For 2 years I struggled to fall pregnant, almost giving hope after a miscarriage last year. Magically, after 5 weeks of Shiatsu for my husband and I, I fell pregnant. I carried full term without complications! We now have a healthy baby girl and could not be more greatfull!
